This essay looks at some key concepts related to the human condition and our physical being.
It is useful to remember we are examining the human condition as a set of predispositions – body predisposes mood which predisposes emotion which predisposes language. In the context of predispositions, our physical being lies at the heart of our way of being. If my physical being does not exist, then I do not exist and there is no mood, emotion, or language to experience.
Our physical being is more than our structure – our skin, organs and so on. Our structure is constantly dynamic and fuelled by energy that varies through time. In any given moment, our energy level underpins how well our structural dynamics can function. As a result, how we regulate and direct our energy resources is central to our understanding of the human condition.
Furthermore, our physical structure is not static but plastic in nature. This plasticity provides us with the capacity to adapt and learn. Each of our experiences impacts the structure of our physical being to varying degrees, which in turn predisposes us to our future experiences.
